Some of our main Achievements / A Brief Report of Activities!

During early 2000, Sarathi concentrated on Media Awareness Programmes – Media Literacy for the school going adolescents particularly living in rural areas. Sarathi organized three workshops each of one day duration at Gundanahalli in Malur Taluk and Aavalahalli, Immadi halli, Hoskote town and several other villages in Bangalore rural.  More than 1000 students have been benefitted. in these activities.

Theatre activities for both rural and urban students on Save Water and Beti Bachao – 2017 -2020. Totally more than 5000 students and elders had participated in 100 Street Plays and post play discussions.

Produced a film on RTI for CIVIC, an organization working with civil rights – 2012. This film highlighted on RTI is not restricted only to high profile corruption and other civil works but also pro people programs like mal practices in Public Distribution System, MADILU KIT for pregnant women etc.  RTI project was a multi media project, both Filming and 24 episodes in JNANAVAANI Radio, IGNOU. This was used to educate people about the power of Right to Information for both educated, illiterate and literates, urbanites,   urban slums and rural. This was for masses and well received by radio listeners and IGNOU repeatedly broadcasting for 3 years.

Series of workshops, training programs, seminars on various issues for both rural and urban students, writers and media professionals. For instance, training police personals in Litrery workshops, empowering writers on Legal and Gender issues, Health and HIV AIDS, Environmental issues etc. – 2006 – 2014.

Sarathi successfully worked with underprivileged children, in staging 10 plays enacted by 350 children of various slums in Bangalore in November 2005. Karnataka Nataka Academy and Sarathi jointly conducted theatre workshop for these children through local NGOs. This was the first of its kind in India where in children of Bengaluru slums  were involved in the main stream drama festival.
