Infotainment and Documentaries

Infotainment denotes a combination of Information and Entertainment, where one can use art, culture, theatre, music, fine arts etc to create awareness on a particular issue. Sarathi was directly has been involved with this initiative since 2000.

Our co-founder, Shamantha DS is part of this Infotainment program in India since 2000 with UNO’s Millennium Development Goals. Later, she took this forward through Sarathi organization and introduced new concepts in Kannada mainstream Print, TV and Radio mediums.

Converting issues like Health, Education, Rights, Environment, Gender issues etc into short stories, novels, plays in print, audio and video, sketches etc were Sarathi’s innovation. It involved writers, artists, musicians, theatre personalities, mainstream media houses in this venture.

Srujana

Multimedia concept on HIV AIDS, and unique project in Asia Pacific region. Joint project with Action Aid and leading Kannada weekly Sudha with Sarathi Communications. HIV affected group staged a play for the first time in Karnataka as a part of Awareness creating program – 2004.

Reality Show / Human Interest Stories

A 250 series on various issues in Q & A format, Docu feature introduced in Kannada TV, EeTV Kannada. Later, this News feature dominated Entertainment Channels in Reality Show name –2003

Chinnara Natakotsava

First initiative in the country with Karnataka Nataka Academy. 250 Children from 14 different slums of Bengalore participated in 4 days Drama Festival in Bengaluru –2005.

Play for Radio

KASASURA, JALAMRUTA, NIRALYA DAISIRI AND GANGAVATARA, JEEVAJALA etc. – 4 musical play for Radio –2020 -2021, RDWS.

PRAKRUTI

A multi media Project with Karnataka State Pollution Control Board between 2008 -2017.

    • First workshop for artists from various Art Schools like Chitrakala Parishath, Hadapad’s Ken School and other art schools.
    • Second workshop PRAKRUTI for Kannada writers on safe Environment and Pollution Control with one of the leading Kannada weeklies TARANGA.
    • Third was 26 series on Pollution Control in IGNOU’s JNANAVAANI Radio.
    • Fourth project was PRAKRUTI Collection of Short Stories published in Taranga magazine.
    • Later, three series on Ganesha Festival, Deepavali in Sarathi Jhalak Radio.
