Welcome to Sarathi Trust

Sarathi – A Resource Centre for Communications is a Registered Trust under the “Indian Trusts Act”.

Sarathi’s primary objective is to COMMUNICATE, EDUCATE and CREATE AWARENESS in the community, by giving voice to those sections and empowering community intellectually, who are struggling to cope with rapid urbanization and rural neglect and apathy.

80G Certificate obtained U /S 80G [5] [Vi], from 01.04.2010 onwards till it is rescinded.

Registered under FCRA [Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi] with the registration number 094421303 for Cultural, Educational and Economic activities.

Registered under U / S 12A of the Income  Tax Act at No DIT[ E] /12A Vol 11s – 1207/W -2002-03.

What We Do?

Sarathi has set up and runs a First Woman owned SARATHI JHALAK 90.4 FM, a Community Radio Station of Karnataka at Anugondanahalli, Bengaluru Rural District. We work on a complete PAN KARNATAKA INNOVATIVE COMMUNICATIONS approach, in which we COMBINE STRENGTHS OF DIFFERENT MEDIA, ALLIED WITH SARATHI JHALAK’S RADIO.

PRINT

Various leading kannada publications, writers Guild, prestigious organizations like Lekhakhiyara Sangha, Sahitya Academy, Network of Women in Media, Taluk and District level Literary Sanghas are partners of Sarathi’S PRINT Initiatives.

RADIO

Sarathi has produced and directed number of radio docu features for All India Radio, IGNOU’s educative radio channel Jnanavaani before Sarathi Jhalak Radio.

TV & VISUAL MEDIA

First communication organization which initiated issue based Reality Shows, Talk shows, features, discussions on policy and its implementation and impact in  mainstream Television, Door Darshan and other forms of visual document.

SOCIAL MEDIA

Sarathi uses social media to disseminate information, news bits, policies, knowledge and latest details of government schemes and opportunities.

THEATRE / STEETPLAYS

Street play another form of effective form of communication to disseminate information on issues.

TRAINING

Training Programs for Creative Writers, Artists, Fine-Art Artists, etc., on issues is one of Sarathi’s flagship programmes.

Founder’s Profile!

Shamantha D S

Shamantha D S - Founder of Sarathi Trust

Shamantha DS, the Founder, has more than 20 years of experience in varies roles, such as Publisher and Editor, Associate Editor, Film Critic, Documentary film maker and Journalist across leading Print, Electronic and Broadcast Media.She has been a Fellow of Ford Foundation‘s Panos, KK Birla Foundation – Hindustan Times, PCI- USA, and a recipient of awards from Karnataka Sahitya Academy and Madhyam Academy. She has 13 Publications to her credit.

She has initiated, conceptualised, scripted and directed hundreds of documentary features in Kannada visual and Audio, Print and traditional forms of communication. She is also responsible for introducing Reality Show concept in Karnataka with various Kannada TV Channels.

MV Usha

A Trustee, is a Family Counsellor. Since 2009, she is empanelled as external member of Internal Complaints Committee of MNCs Pan India, nationalised and corporate banks, medical establishment & research centres, NGO Family Counsellor, Independent consultant to social and development organisations.

Nirmala Nanda Kumar

Another Trustee, is founder General Secretary and Past President of Akhila Bharatha Arya Vysya Mahila Mahasabha, associated with several organisations.
